About us
Centrum Basiseducatie Ligo Brusselleer is the Brussels-based institution for adult literacy in Dutch. It is one of the 13 Adult Literacy Centres that are part of the Flemish Department for Education.
Ligo Brusselleer organises open courses in literacy, maths, social orientation and ICT for adults with a low degree of education. In addition, we offer tailor-made courses. The language competence levels our institution offers as defined by the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) are A1 (Breakthrough) and A2 (Waystage).
Ligo Brusselleer also organises language and literacy coaching for people in vocational training as well as educational courses for parents of children in Dutch-speaking primary schools. Our lessons take place at different locations in the Brussels Capital Region.
Ligo Brusselleer is part of a broad network of institutions and organisations and works in partnership with many Belgian stakeholders in adult learning. Ligo Brusselleer employs 136 people to date and offered courses to 1.966 students in the '21-'22 school year.
Ligo Brusselleer has been an active participant of the Erasmus+ project since 2016. As well as receiving visitors, we send our employees abroad.

We have completed two Erasmus+ KA1 projects, the third project 'Literacies for life' started in 21-22. More than 20 employees have already gone abroad for a job shadowing, a conference or a course. We have welcomed partners from different countries. In May 2022, our new Erasmus+ KA2 project 'Together strong in languages' will start, a small-scale partnership with Rotterdam and Luxembourg on supporting parents in the multilingual education of their children. International learning has become an important part of professional development at Ligo Brusselleer.
